Vic and Marge Riemenschneider Scholarship Application


The South Bend - Elkhart Audubon Society awards a one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarship to a resident of St. Joseph, Elkhart, or Marshall counties of Indiana who plans to be enrolled at an accredited college and to pursue a degree program that aligns with the mission of the Society. This includes, but is not limited to, ornithology, forestry, wildlife, ecology and environmental sciences or engineering, natural resources, insect biology, and sustainable agriculture. The applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent, at the time of application. 

The applicant must include the following documents as PDFs:

  1. an essay describing their goals and how they align with the mission of the South Bend - Elkhart Audubon Society.

  2. two letters of recommendation from those familiar with the applicant’s academic work and goals (not family or friends)

  3. the most recent high school or college transcript

    Upon enrollment, a one thousand dollar ($1,000) check will be forwarded to the candidate’s college to be applied to tuition. 

Deadline for consideration is May 31, 2024. The individual selected will be notified in June 2024.
