Our April membership meeting and program will be held April 16th at 2:00 p.m.
We’ll be meeting at the Elkhart Conservation Club (ECC) instead of Rum Village Nature Center. Our speakers for the program are affiliated with the ECC, so it’s a better location for them. Feel free to walk the trails before or after the meeting and program.
The program is titled “Whooo's Calling in the Woods?”. Dennis Badke of Foxwood Raptor and Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will discuss the basic biology of owls, as well as habitat and feeding habits. He will also discuss how to look for owls. Dennis will introduce us to live owls that are ambassadors at the facility. Foxwood Raptor and Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, located in Bristol, IN, started in 1979. They specialize in raptors and foxes. Dennis and Andrea Badke are the Wildlife Rehabilitators. They take in about 650 orphaned and injured animals each year. Last year they cared for over 60 raptors, including hawks, owls, and vultures, and released 90% of them. Their focus is on not only rehabilitation and eventual release, but education, as well.
The Elkhart Conservation Club is located at 55515 Riviera Drive in Elkhart. Their new sign on Riviera Drive makes it so much easier to find.
